When People Don’t Hear You

A friend of mine recently told me a story about someone who started ignoring her mid-sentence. She said, “I felt invisible.”
To be fair, this was in a social setting with other people around and a few adult beverages, but still, it has a point.
It reminded me of how often this happens and how it is a perfect example of energy in motion. This isn’t about blame. It’s about awareness and learning how to stay calm and peaceful even when others aren’t meeting you where you are.
Or have you ever said something, only to have the person keep right on talking like you never said a word? It is the difference between a clear blue sky and a cloudy sky. One feels open and light, and the other signals that something could be off. A signal that it might rain or that the energy around you just isn’t clear.

There are a few things that could be happening.
First, some people are simply not present.
They’re distracted, self-absorbed, or caught up in their own internal noise. They hear sounds, but they don’t really listen.

• Constant negativity or complaining.
• Drama that leaves you feeling drained.
• People who interrupt or dominate every conversation.
• A heavy or chaotic feeling after spending time with someone.
• Excessive addictions to work, substances, control, or attention.
• People who take more than they give and resist growth or change.
It’s not about judging others. It’s about being aware.
Stop living your life like other people care about it. This may sound harsh but we give too much power to what other people think.
